While Apple does not directly notify users when they are blocked, there are several clues that can help you figure it out.

How to Tell if You’re Blocked on iMessage
There is no guaranteed way to know when someone blocks you on iMessage. All you need, however, is look at a few indicators and you may be able to tell.
Check Whether Your Message Shows “Delivered”
You can easily find out if you’ve been blocked on iMessage—by checking your message delivery status.
Normally, iMessages display a “Delivered” label beneath the message once it reaches the recipient’s device. If this status suddenly disappears for multiple messages—over several days, it could mean that you’ve been blocked.
However, the “Delivered” notification may not appear due to network issues, a powered-off device, or disabled iMessage.
Check Message Bubble Color (Blue vs Green)
Blue bubbles are the standard for iMessage, but sometimes, you may get green bubbles after sending a message.
If you’re getting a green bubble, it could mean that you’ve been blocked. Still, this alone shouldn’t be treated as proof. You may also notice a green bubble if the recipient turned off iMessage, switched devices, lost internet access, or is temporarily unavailable.

Try Reaching Them via FaceTime
FaceTime behaves similarly to iMessage when your number has been blocked by the recipient. Try initiating a FaceTime call to the person.
- If it rings and connects or goes to a missed call notification, you’re likely not blocked.
- If FaceTime fails immediately or shows a connection error every time, that’s another sign to consider.
Like iMessage, FaceTime calls to a recipient who has blocked you don’t go through. In fact, they won’t see a missed FaceTime notification.
Check Read Receipt Status
In some cases, read receipts can also offer clues to know if someone blocked you on iMessage or not.
If a person previously had Read Receipts enabled and you could see when messages were read, but now you only see sent messages with no updates, that is a sign that you may have been blocked.
Still, it is possible that the recipient disabled Read Receipts on their iPhone. Therefore, the absence of Read Receipts is not enough proof that you’ve been blocked by them.
Can You Tell for Sure if Someone Blocked You on iMessage?
To be honest, there is no single way to know for sure that you’ve been blocked by someone on iMessage because Apple strictly protects user privacy.

- Focus Mode or Do Not Disturb: Focus settings may silence notifications and delay responses. This means that the person may simply be unavailable.
